This week is all about a great friend, a real mucka. It’s been a week since we received the devastating news that the legend, the great man who touched everybody’s heart,
the meticulously talented and all round nice guy Phil Asher passed away. Myself and everyone I know are still in shock, still numb. We all miss him terribly. A top top producer and West London’s finest House DJ. As I said, meticulous. His dress sense was meticulous. One of those guys that would look cool in anything he wore. But what he wore wasn’t by mistake, he looked cool because he WAS cool.

I used to call him Phil the Mod because people I knew on the estate he lived with his grandad all called him that. He always dressed well and I think he was one of the few people from that estate that actually had a job and went to work in those days, around the mid 80’s. His musical knowledge was immense. There wasn’t a track that Phil didn’t know…

If you asked him about one,he probably had the track anyway, among the thousands of his vinyl collection, any genre too. For me he was the best House DJ to come out of West London, I’ve always said that and stand by it. That’s a big statement because there is a hell of a lot of talent that stems from there. He leaves behind so many people that loved him. My heartfelt condolences go out to Marvin, his partner Lisa, dad David, sister Suzy, and to Helen. And to all the LGNJAS who, through our WhatsApp group, have made it a lot easier to get through this week sharing the many many memories and photos and crazy stories of our jaunts over the last 30 odd years. Dear Comrades
Music is art, as much as painting a picture or writing a book, Phil was an artist in everything he did,
Cheers Phil for showing us how it should be done. Here’s to you Phil Asher. Taken away way too soon, I know you’re rocking it up there. Your legacy will live on for years and years after we finally join you. Much love brother. There’s so much more I could say but now I’m now gonna play some house music that Phil has either produced, remixed or collaborated on..Thank you
