CELEBRATE LIFE…

Phil Asher was a General, Gentle Man, Scholar, Wax Poetic, Mentor and Man Of The Common People. A Mighty Force by any reckoning.
He knew what it meant to be human, living life by example, always humble and yet firm when needed, Phil kept it real in every sense. All the time.

His physical presence will be greatly missed by all, but for me his energetic signature shall always remain with, and part of who I am, for when a force this large comes into your life you cannot help to be touched by it.

Since departing to the US over two decades ago my time spent with Phil obviously lessened and yet I always Felt him with me. Connecting when we could on random FaceTime calls he kept topped me up with the unmistakable Asher flavour. The jokes never stopped flowing, even when things weren’t so rosey in his life he kept it upbeat and positive. Never shy to share our own Trials and Tribulations, we retained the depth and authenticity that our relationship had been founded upon despite the geographical distance between us.

Now as we each adjust and process in our own individual way to the immediate our loss from our physical plane, I offer some humble assistance from an energetic perspective. What we perceive to be as solid physical form is in fact a beautiful and intelligent configuration of energetic particles vibrating together in unison to form individual yet over lapping fields of energy, and as we all know Phil’s field was Massive!

Energy cannot die, it may only transform and when I think in these terms my heart fills with Joy, for in truth Phil “Hasn’t gone anywhere, but out of his own body”. His field remains with us, and a part of us for eternity.

Since hearing the news of his passing early Friday morning one song in particular has remained at the forefront of my every waking moment and I feel a strong calling to share. Unsurprisingly and true to Asher form it is a MAW remix, of Afro Celt Sound System’s “Release”.

The song narrates our release from the physical plane and I feel if the big man himself was to offer any advice to us from the Innerside, it would simply be to Celebrate Life.

Not only to Rejoice in the life that was His and that he shared so selflessly with so many, but also to do our very best to Blaze ahead and Live The Happy Life that we are All still able to Share between us.

I recall Phil stating on his 40th birthday “Life is too short to hold grudges man, I’m 40 now and it’s time to drop that shit f’real..” This brings to mind is a wise saying from the Spiritual side of Life that proposes, ‘There Are No Mistakes In Life, Only Lessons’, and if we are to learn anything from the passing of the One Like Asher, may it be this:

Let us all stop the nonsense of holding on to any form of negative attachment toward our own self or any others, put aside the silly differences and simply, “Try to find peace within without stepping on one another, to respect the woman of the world and just remember we all have mothers”, so that we may Get Busy and “Make this land a better land and the world in which we live and help each man be a better man with the kindness that we give.”

We are all one big Family and through honest and authentic CO-OP-eration we may each do our part to Generate and Spread Love all over the world so that others may recognize the Inspiration and Information that is held within The Message.

At least for me, this is how I shall continue to honour the Essence that Is, Was and Always will remain Phil Asher. Representing in full e-f-f-e-c-t each and every day until I too Slip’n Slide back into the Darkness from whence I came where I will be Reunited with him once again.

So for now, perhaps the best we can do is Celebrate his life in a New Orleans Jazz Procession style and fashion, turn up the hi-fi, get heavy on the bass, put some smoke into the ether, have A Drink On Me and salute the General as he Embarks Upon the next stage of his Spiritual Journey.

Thank you for all you gave my brother and rest assured in the knowing that your time here was well spent, you certainly touched many hearts, young and old, far and wide, not only through the mountain of music you made that will continue to guide and influence for generations to come, but also from simply being the True, Authentic Restless Soul that is forever PHIL ASHER.
